Protests in Iran are growing as the government tightens internet controls.

According to reports, around 90% of the population has lost internet access, while government officials still have selective connectivity for their own use.

Analysts say this indicates that the Iranian government is improving its ability to control the flow of information during civil unrest.

"It's absolutely terrible; the truth is not getting out," says Barbara Friedman, Digital Content Editor at Primedia.

She adds that the international community and private individuals, including Elon Musk, are trying to counter these restrictions.

Friedman reports that Starlink is sending satellites to help Iranians access the internet, allowing people to bypass government shutdowns and stay connected to the outside world.

Observers warn that, while these steps may let some information get through, the Iranian government's precise shutdowns show a new level of control over how protests are covered.

Experts say this tactic is a chilling example of how authoritarian regimes are adjusting to digital activism.
