Several roads in the Cape Town CBD and Green Point will be closed on Monday for the Cape Town Minstrels Carnival, with heavy traffic expected in surrounding areas.

Most closures will begin at 6am Monday morning and will remain in place until midnight. Somerset Road between Buitengracht Street and Granger Bay Boulevard will be fully closed.

Nearby streets - including Alfred, Chiappini, Napier, Dixon and Prestwich Streets - will be fully closed for the duration of the parade.

Starting later at 12h00, Vlei Road and portions of Fort Wynyard Street will also be closed.

Traffic is expected to be heavy on all surrounding routes, including Helen Suzman Boulevard. If you usually travel through Green Point, please plan for delays or use an alternative route.
