WC cops investigating 2 counts of murder in Athlone

Western Cape police are investigating two counts of attempted murder in Athlone after two men were shot and wounded in the area.

The motive for Monday's shooting in Kewtown’s Block 26 is believed to be gang related.

Police spokesperson Wesley Twigg said officers rushed to the scene after being notified about a shooting in the area.

However, when the cops arrived, explained Twigg, the suspects had fled the scene.

"Upon arrival on the scene the victims were already transported to a medical facility for treatment. The victims sustained gunshot wounds to their bodies and are receiving treatment in hospital."
