Heavy rain and thundershowers are set to lash parts of the country today including Gauteng, Kwazulu-Natal, and the North West.
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) predicts that Gauteng and Limpopo could see even heavier downpours, with chances exceeding 80 percent.
The weather service warns the rains may cause flooding, strong winds, and damage to infrastructure.
Residents are advised to take the warnings seriously and stay indoors where possible.
Forecaster Lehlohonolo Thobela has also urged motorists to drive with caution, as wet conditions are expected to continue throughout the day.
"If you'll be in the high veld of Mpumalanga into the southwestern parts of Limpopo, expect significant impacts of severe thunderstorms due to heavy downpours that may lead to localised flooding, a possibility of damaging winds as well as a possibility of hail and excessive lightning into the afternoon."
