Major route between Mokopane and Marken closed following fatal Limpopo collision

Five people have been killed following a serious single-vehicle accident on the R518 in Mogalakwena, Limpopo, on Wednesday afternoon.

Initial reports indicate that a light delivery vehicle lost control and collided with a bridge earlier on Wednesday. The impact resulted in five fatalities at the scene and left seven others with injuries ranging from minor to critical.

Authorities have confirmed that emergency services worked to stabilise the survivors before transporting them to nearby medical facilities. Limpopo Transport spokesperson Matome Taueatsoala provided a breakdown of the casualties involved in the incident.

"A major crash accident has occurred on R518 Mosesetjane cross, resulting in 5 fatalities, with 2 people seriously injured, 4 people critically injured, and 1 person sustaining minor injuries. The R518 Mokopane to Marken road is temporarily closed to clear the scene. Motorists are advised to plan alternative routes and exercise extreme caution."
