A sitting of interviews for the National Director of Public Prosecutions has heard that a complaint has been lodged against one of the panellists.

The term of current National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) head Shamila Batohi ends in January.

On Thursday morning, Minister of Justice Mmamoloko Kubayi started proceedings by announcing a statement from the Amalgamated Lawyers Association, flagging the candidacy of Nkosana Mvundlela, the president of the Black Lawyers Association.

But like the Democratic Alliance (DA)’s threat to interdict the hearings on Wednesday, Kubayi has dismissed the association’s statement.

“I want to urge South Africans to allow the panel to do its work so that we can conclude the work, some of these things are just becoming an unnecessary distraction - which we do not need. So, with that, we will proceed to our candidates.”
