Police have seized a vehicle believed to belong to the bodyguards of alleged crime don, Katiso "KT" Molefe.

Two men were arrested earlier on Wednesday at the Alexandra Magistrates Court, where Molefe made an appearance.

The 61-year-old and three others are facing 35 counts of crimes, including murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. His matter has been transferred to the Johannesburg High Court for trial.

Katiso "KT" Molefe was heavily guarded and surrounded by armed men as he entered the Alexandra Magistrates Court. However, police arrested two of the men for not having the requisite permits to carry AK-47 rifles and ammunition.

Police Spokesperson, Athlenda Mathe, explained the legal requirements:

"It's quite important that security officials or bodyguards, when they report on duty and are handed firearms, the person responsible must issue them a permit for carrying the firearms. But also, that security official must be in possession of a competency certificate to utilize that firearm."

Mathe says the vehicle the men were travelling in was also seized because the license disc did not correspond with its number plate.

While two of his bodyguards are now arrested, Molefe remains out on bail.
