She qualifies for parole consideration, having served 16 of her 28-year prison sentence.
She was convicted and sentenced in 2009 for organising a hit on her husband, Taliep Peterson, who was shot dead at their home in Athlone in December 2006.
The parole board has recommended that she finishes a few intervention programmes within a set timeframe before being reconsidered.
Correctional Services spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo said, "Her parole placement will be reconsidered once the intervention programmes have been successfully completed and that will include all other related requirements."
Meanwhile, Taliep’s family has welcomed the decision to deny his Najwa parole.
Taliep Petersen's brother, Igsaan, said no decision will ever make up for what they've gone through as a family over the years.
"We will never have my brother again; we will never be able to see or hear his voice again."
It's unclear, at this stage, when she'll be reconsidered for parole.
