A women and children's rights organisation is calling for the immediate extradition of a former Cape Town teacher facing charges of sexual abuse in Scotland.
Iain Wares was arrested at Simons Town Magistrates Court in October under a United Kingdom (UK) extradition warrant.
He was charged with 90 new counts and granted bail of R10,000.
The 86-year-old is facing child sexual abuse charges in Cape Town and in the UK during his 40-year teaching career.
Wares's latest court appearance on Thursday is to consolidate all the charges his facing relating to the sexual and physical abuse of more than 60 boys in Scotland, where he taught in the 1960s and 70s.
Women and Men Against Child Abuse's Luke Lamprecht said they expect the court to confirm that he can be extradited on all these charges.
"Once that is done, we expect him to swiftly be sent to Scotland to face justice and give closure to his international victims who have fought a long emotional and painful battle to bring this man to justice."
Wares is also on trial at the Wynberg Magistrates Court for allegedly sexually abusing a pupil at Rondebosch Boys Preparatory School in 1988.
