Firefighters battle blaze on Houw Hoek mountain

Firefighters continue to battle a blaze on the Houw Hoek mountain.
 
The fire broke out on Monday.
 
Overberg District Municipality fire chief, Reinard Geldenhuys: "We managed to contain most of the lines above the Houw Hoek Hotel and the hotel and the N2 are secure. There are still active lines in the mountain, more to the north and teams will be deployed during the course of the day."
 
The N2 highway is open but motorists may notice smoke in the area and are being urged to drive with caution.
