African National Congress (ANC) member of Parliament and former minister Malusi Gigaba is set to hand himself over to police in Pretoria on Friday morning.
It’s understood he will be formally charged in connection with ongoing investigations into corruption at Transnet.
Gigaba is also expected to make a court appearance on Friday.
He was Public Enterprises Minister between 2010 and 2014 and will be charged for Transnet-related corruption matters.
In a statement, he said the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) informed him that he should present himself to be charged and appear in court.
“I have been summoned to appear in court this morning. I do not know what the charges are yet, but I’ll let you know after receiving the charge sheet.
“Let me declare that I have full confidence in our courts - they are the forum where facts, not fiction, will finally prevail. My confidence is built on irrefutable evidence and a commitment to full transparency,” he wrote.
The nature of his charges will be established during his appearance.
