Kamar said more than R10,000 of his stock was impounded and after not earning money for more than a week, he’s not been able to feed his family.
City law enforcement spokesperson Wayne Dyason said informal traders in the vicinity of the mall were warned to renew their permits on 10 October.
"Initial inspections identified at least eight locations where unpermitted trading was taking place. On 10 October, officers served traders who didn’t have permits with compliance notices."
Dyasonsaid officers conducted a follow up inspection on 24 October.
"Officers found six locations where individuals were still trading without permits. Apart from those who were trading with no permits, there were also traders who were not trading in allocated bays."
Dyason said the traders were fined in accordance with the informal trading by-law and their goods were confiscated.
