Disgruntled Khayelitsha residents are calling for basic services to be delivered to their area.
On Thursday afternoon, close to 1,000 residents marched to the Cape Town Civic Centre.
They handed over a memorandum demanding water, electricity and better road infrastructure.
While Eskom supplies electricity to the area, community activist, Ndithini Tyhido, claims the city is delaying talks over the power supply.
"Eskom requires the city first to condone an area before they can electrify. And the city is delaying the condonation of those areas for them to be electrified."
One Khayelitsha resident told EWN that living without these services impacted their lives daily.
"We demand better services. From where we stay in Khayelitsha, we’ve got potholes. There where we live, we don't even have toilets to do number 2. We do number 2, we use plastic bags."
The residents have given the city 14 days to respond to their concerns.
