Western Cape MEC for Police Oversight and Community Safety, Anroux Marais, lauded the police for the arrest of seven suspects on Thursday, allegedly linked to the mass shooting in Phillipi East.
The shooting took place last Friday in the Better Life informal settlement.
Marais commended Crime Intelligence for tracing the gunmen and said that violent, organised crime remained a top priority in the province.
She added that their actions demonstrates the deep commitment of SAPS members.
"Now that these suspects are in custody, I urge the investigation team to build a watertight case that will stand up in court and lead to successful convictions."
