A moment of glittering confusion at the recent Miss Grand International pageant is going viral.
Miss Panama dramatically celebrated a finalist announcement that wasn’t meant for her.
As the host called out 'Miss Paraguay', Panama's Isamar Herrera (perhaps caught up in the excitement and similar-sounding names), confidently walked to the front of the stage, beaming and ready to claim her place among the top contestants.
As cameras rolled and the crowd looked on, the host quickly tried to save the situation with a polite but firm, "I beg your pardon, I announced Miss Grand Paraguay", leaving Herrera mid-spotlight with a now legendary awkward smile and retreat.
Despite the blunder, she handled it like a pro, later stating that 'these things happen' and expressing joy for the real winner.
“People on the socials are saying it was so clear he had said 'Paraguay'. How did she hear 'Panama'?” wonders Primedia Digital Content Editor Barbara Friedman.
