Precautionary suspension letters have been issued to eight Milnerton High School learners allegedly involved in the assault of a peer.
A video of a group of learners assaulting another learner at the school has gone viral on social media platforms, sparking widespread outrage.
The video shows a group of teens from the school beating another learner with belts, a hose pipe and a large stick.
Two other learners were allegedly assaulted during the same incident.

The Western Cape Education Department (WCED)'s Bronagh Hammond: "Following the immediate and initial investigation by the school governing body, they have met and have issued precautionary suspension letters to eight learners. They will now face a disciplinary hearing. The school is treating this with the seriousness it deserves and have acted upon the allegations and the video that has emerged."
The SAPS has indicated a case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm is being investigated and arrests could follow.
Meanwhile, the WCED has appealed to the public to remove the video from social media platforms and report it as harmful content.
