The investigating officer in the murder case of Vereeniging engineer, Armand Swart, believes Katiso “KT” Molefe’s nephew, Lucky Molefe, is the main culprit who orchestrated Swart’s murder.
In the time leading to Swart’s murder on April 17 last year, Lucky was an employee of Transnet Freight Rail.
He has been identified as the “inside man” who crooked the system to allow the awarding of a multi-million-rand tender to a company known as SK Group.
SK Group acquired products from Swart’s company Q-Tech, and then inflated the prices by more than 4,000% when selling them to Transnet.
An internal investigation by Transnet put pressure on Lucky to take drastic action.
This is according to the investigating officer in the murder case of Swart, who has been testifying before the MadlangaCommission.
Witness B alleges that Lucky cooked the books in awarding a R1.2 million tender to a little-known company, SK Group.
At the time, Lucky was a Transnet employee, and he colluded with his cousin Thapelo, KT’s son, to pull off their grand scheme.
“When the money is now paid to this SK Group, the whole amount is transferred to Thapelo Molefe’s account. Thapelo Molefe is the one paying people, including the so-called director of SK [Group],” revealed Witness B.
She added that the director of the SK Group was paid a fraction of what the tender was worth.
“He’s getting as little as R30,000 from a total of R1.2 million.”
Lucky, who is currently in hiding, is wanted in connection with Swart’s murder.
