Colman Domingo to play Cowardly Lion in upcoming ‘Wicked’ sequel

Oscar-nominated actor Colman Domingo has been revealed as the voice behind the Cowardly Lion in Wicked: For Good.

Taking to Instagram, the film’s account shared a teaser of Domingo with a stuffed lion. 

Fans have been eager to find out more about what the upcoming film is about, says 947’s Zweli Mbhele. 

“Director Jon M. Chu is getting ready for a major publicity run. We saw with the first one, it was day in and day out, and one of the highest-grossing movies of 2024 and recent history.”

The Cowardly Lion was the main character in the 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz.

In Wicked, he is the young cub rescued by Elphaba (played by Cynthia Erivo) and Fiyero (played by Jonathan Bailey).  

With the sequel overlapping timelines with The Wizard of Oz, Wicked: For Good will see the cub fully grown with Dorothy, the Tin Man, and Scarecrow walking down the Yellow Brick Road.
