The University of Fort Hare has said its priority is re-opening the institution and operating as normal following disruptions by protesting students this week.
All learning is currently happening online, while management is calling for calm from the protests that disrupted learning this week.
Two buildings were torched during demonstrations, with repairs estimated at costs ranging between R250 million to R500 million
The students say they are disgruntled because the university wanted to appoint an interim SRC president following the suspension of the former one.
The other reason students have stated for their protest is that they are unhappy about the management of vice chancellor, Sakhela Buhlungu.
Fort Hare spokesperson JP Roodt said, "the priority now is with continuity firstly with the academic learning programme which is being implemented right now online learning and then the disaster recovery plan and the ways for us to normalise the institution".
