Alleged crime kingpin, Katiso "KT" Molefe has been granted R400,000 bail by the Johannesburg High Court.

Molefe approached the high court after bail was denied in the Alexandra Magistrate's Court in August.

The 61-year-old was arrested in July in connection with the murder of DJ Sumbody, whose real name was Oupa Sefoka.

He was later also charged with the murder of Hector Buthelezi, who was known as DJ Vintos.

Molefe also faces separate charges for the murder of Vereeniging engineer, Armand Swart.

Judge Brad Wanless has overturned a judgment by the Alexandra Magistrate's Court, which found that Molefe failed to prove exceptional circumstances that warrant his release on bail.

He has ruled that there must be a basis for Molefe’s bail to be denied, agreeing with his lawyers that the magistrate's court erred.

But the bail comes with some stringent conditions.

Molefe has been restricted to the Gauteng province but can only travel to Welkom in the Free State for business.
