The Department of Social Development says it’s reviewing appointments made in Minister Sisisi Tolashe’s office following reports of irregularities.
On Thursday, Tolashe told Parliament she would not tolerate a breach of procedure or conduct that undermines public trust.
The department has pledged to return to Parliament’s portfolio committee once investigations have been concluded.

Minister Sisisi Tolashe on Thursday moved to clarify matters related to the irregular appointment of an inexperienced personal assistant with a falsified CV, a former chief of staff who apparently acted without her authority in making the appointment, and a special advisor reported to be earning two government salaries.
Tolashe also told the committee there was no malice intended when Parliament was previously told the Director-General Peter Netshipale had been appointed for five years, when in fact, Cabinet had only approved a year-long contract.
"This was just a clerical error, not an intentional act, and it has been resolved without prejudice to Cabinet’s authority."
Tolashe said the recent negative publicity her department had attracted was intended to damage her reputation and dignity.
"They’ve also been deliberately made to divert public attention from our concerted efforts to stabilise the portfolio and root out the bad apples in the system."
Some MPs claimed they were being contacted by affected parties to ask particular questions in the parliamentary meeting.
