The body of South Africa's ambassador to France has arrived in South Africa ahead of his burial on Sunday.

Nathi Mthethwa died in Paris last week by suspected suicide.

However, authorities are yet to confirm the cause of death.

Mthethwa's remains will be transported to Durban on Friday.

A welcome committee of government officials and ANC leaders will gather at King Shaka International Airport.

Relatives will also form part of the procession, which will transport the body to the Mthethwa home.

The 58-year-old will be laid to rest in a special official funeral category 2 on Sunday.
