Several electronic devices have been confiscated from the Centurion home of suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya.
This follows a “secret” early-morning operation by members of the National Intervention Unit, Special Task Force, and Crime Intelligence. Some officers were staked out near Sibiya’s home as early as 3am.
Sibiya said the officers presented him with a search and seizure warrant relating to various charges, including defeating the ends of justice, corruption and money laundering.
He admitted that he initially thought he was going to be arrested and explained what was taken during the raid.
“I was under the impression that it was going to happen. I’m expecting it anytime. General Mkhwanazi said yesterday that it’s imminent - it’s been imminent since last year - so I’m still waiting. They came to conduct a search and seizure. They normally look for the gadgets and the cellphones of everybody who’s in the yard,” he said.
