KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli has described the passing of the late Ambassador Nathi Mthethwa as a major loss. His statement comes as Mthethwa's body is set to arrive in South Africa this week.
Mthethwa died in Paris last week after allegedly falling from a hotel building. The cause of his death is currently under investigation.
The former minister and senior ANC leader was serving as the South African Ambassador to France and Monaco at the time of his passing.

Premier Ntuli has hailed Mthethwa for his contributions, stating, "We are of the view that we've lost a leader who has shaped the future, contributed to shaping the future even in the province of KwaZulu-Natal."
The Premier added that Mthethwa, as a national leader, played a good role in the execution of his duties.
"And we are sending our condolences to the family, to his family and to relatives, to the ANC and South Africa as a country because he was not only contributing at a level of a family or at a level of the province. His contributions, in fact, were received all over South Africa. We hope his soul is resting in peace," Ntuli said.
