Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis said that a tender fraud investigation related to a R1.6 billion construction contract has nothing to do with alleged gang boss, Ralph Stanfield, and his wife, Nicole Johnson.
This follows a search and seizure operation at 26 addresses across Cape Town by the SAPS commercial crimes unit on Wednesday.
The raids were prompted by information from a whistleblower and investigations by both the City of Cape Town and the SAPS.
Charges against Stanfield, Johnson and former Mayco member for Human Settlements, Malusi Booi, related to a one billion rand city housing construction contract were provisionally withdrawn recently.
Speaking on John Maytham's Afternoon Drive Show on Thursday, Hill-Lewis denied Stanfield and Johnson's involvement in the city's latest tender fraud debacle.
"No, no, no they are not related. This is an entirely different matter."
