Gauteng Transport Authority's Kgobe reiterates call to make public transport more accessible

The Gauteng Transport Authority's interim CEO has reiterated the call to make public transportation in the province more accessible.
Speaking at the Smart Mobility Summit, Tshepo Kgobe stressed that almost half of residents in the province cannot afford any mode of transportation.

Kgobe urged attendees to consider the 40% of the population forced to walk due to financial constraints.
"We actually have to make sure that and remember that we have to embrace the new era… embracing a new era in smart mobility means we have to create an accessible and integrated mobility solution that utilises appropriate technologies. Let us ensure that Gauteng remains a science rights province that it has always been by remaining accessible all throughout."
Government officials and industry leaders will gather for the second of the summit in Sandton on Thursday.
They are expected to discuss urban mobility across the continent.
