Crime Intelligence boss Dumisani Khumalo is the latest witness expected to give his version on claims that police and the judiciary are being controlled by powerful businesspeople linked to drug cartels in Gauteng.
Khumalo will appear before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry on Monday, with his testimony expected to be heard over several days.

He is currently out on bail following his arrest on fraud and corruption charges for the alleged irregular appointment of an unqualified official into a senior role within Crime Intelligence.
Khumalo will be expected to delve into the inner workings of the Gauteng counterintelligence operations team, labelled as the driving force behind unravelling corruption within the criminal justice system in the province.
Testifying before the Madlanga Commission last week, National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola explained how Khumalo requested 10 members of the KwaZulu-Natal political killings task team (PKTT) to assist the counterintelligence team in Gauteng.
This, after members of the Gauteng unit began receiving threats on their lives due to their probes into powerful figures in the province.
"If the KZN political task team members didn’t come to Gauteng, we would not have the arrest of Molefe, we would not have the arrest of Cat."
Khumalo was appointed the project coordinator for the PKTT during its establishment in 2018.
Masemola claimed the decision to appoint Khumalo to lead the KZN task team was taken following his success at the helm of a national rhino poaching task team, which operated in various provinces across the country.
