Political newcomer, Afrika Mayibuye Movement, is preparing for its national convention in November, saying it must be ready with solutions for all problems, even if nothing can be done about them immediately.
Following his departure from the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) 13 months ago and then being fired from the MK Party three months ago, Floyd Shivambu is now at the helm of his own party and preparing its foundational documents.
A two-day meeting is underway in Midrand, where Shivambu, on Thursday, encouraged members to help refine its manifesto into a party constitution.
Introducing the 126-page document, Shivambu said it covered not only political and economic matters, but also thorny issues such as immigration.
Explaining the party’s motto for the future, Shivambu appeared to take a slogan of his former political home, the EFF, one step further.
"The clarion call of Afrika Mayibuye Movement is total freedom and emancipation, now. It’s not total freedom and emancipation in our lifetime. We are looking for total freedom and emancipation now. That’s the principle, that’s the clarion call that’s going to drive all of us."
