Cape Town's warring taxi associations could lose their memberships or operating licenses should violence linked to their dispute persist.

These measures were implemented to quell recent deadly violence, which has left at least 10 operators and commuters killed and others wounded in shootings.
The attacks are linked to a conflict between the Cape Amalgamated Taxi Association (CATA) and the Cape Organisation for the Democratic Taxi Association (CODETA) over the specified routes.
The taxi route closures were announced by Western Cape Mobility MEC Isaac Sileku last week Friday, following the killing of CATA's deputy chairperson in Browns Farm.
Sileku said tough action will be taken against any association found to be positively linked to the violence.
"From the side of the constitution and code of conduct of operators, we can also act on our side - we can deregister an association, we can suspend your license, or we can terminate your license. If there is proof of such, then we will definitely do that. We won't even hesitate."
He's urged rival taxi associations to return to the negotiating table and resolve their differences peacefully.
