JOHANNESBURG - The eThekwini metro and the City of Cape Town were among municipalities that have drawn the highest number of complaints to the South African Human Rights Commission.
The commission released a series of reports on Tuesday focusing on the state of human rights in the country.
Six municipalities have been flagged for receiving the highest number of complaints from residents relating to their failure to observe and enforce human rights.
Head of research, Dr Martin Nsibirwa, said most of these complaints stemmed from the failure to deliver basic services.
"The highest number of complaints were against the eThekwini Municipality, and then Rustenburg, and then Polokwane, Cape Town, Victor Khanye Local Municipality and Joe Gqabi District Municipality. Those were the six top respondents in terms of municipalities."
