DURBAN - A KwaZulu-Natal widow whose husband was shot and killed during a house robbery in August is calling for justice for her slain partner.

Nkululeko Shezi was shot and killed at his home in KwaMakhutha, south of Durban, when suspected gunmen forcefully entered his home and stole most of his belongings.

His wife and children are now living in fear, believing the gunmen could still return.

"So it was just one shot at the back, the bullet penetrated through, and then after shooting him, he locked us up in the bedroom."

The traumatic scene is still very fresh in the mind for Nokwanda Shezi as she re-tells the violent incident that claimed her husband’s life.

She said a group of armed men terrorised them in front of their children.

She’s added that the incident was not the first time their home was robbed, and the family is concerned about no developments in the case.

And while police have been praised for their swift approach in dealing with crime in KZN, Nokwansa Shezi said she could not relate.

"May we please be served justice, let the civilians know that they are protected - if we have SAPS around us, we must know that we are protected."

Police in the area are yet to respond.
