CAPE TOWN - Firefighters have contained a blaze that broke out earlier on Sunday on the slopes of Platteklip Gorge on Table Mountain in Cape Town.
Table Mountain National Park spokesperson Megan Taplin said the fire was reported near the contour path area of the mountain at about 11.15 this morning.
Taplin said two teams of firefighters were immediately dispatched.
"The fire was contained about 45 minutes after it was reported to us, and we still have a ground firefighting team monitoring where the fire was just in case there are any flare-ups."
Taplin said the ground crew will remain on site for the day.
"But it's of no concern at the moment because it has been contained and we are also investigating the cause of the fire."
