JOHANNESBURG - Rise Mzansi has accused Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero of only prioritising service delivery when under pressure from the public or political parties.
The city rolled out its accelerated service delivery programme in Sandton on Tuesday, where teams repaired damaged roads and traffic lights.
While welcoming the long-awaited repairs to Pretoria Road in Sandton, Rise Mzansi said the work is long overdue.
Johannesburg’s Mayoral Committee visited Sandton today to identify service delivery challenges requiring urgent attention.

Although the city insists the initiative is not linked to the upcoming G20 Summit in November, it admits it wants Sandton in good shape ahead of the international event.
Rise Mzansi argued that service delivery should be a daily priority, and not something reserved for special occasions.
The party’s spokesperson, Mabine Seabe, explained: “The decay of Johannesburg is not an accident - it is deliberate and the direct result of uncaring and negligent politicians, and a Council too busy to hold the Executive to account. Service delivery cannot be switched on only when foreign dignitaries visit; it must be the daily reality for ratepayers and residents who keep this city afloat.”
