JOHANNESBURG - The Tsakani Magistrates Court has heard that DNA evidence proves that the girl who was raped by her biological father is also the father to her three-year-old child.

This was revealed by the investigating officer from the Springs police station, who is currently testifying before the court.

The 39-year-old man is applying for bail after being arrested in July this year.

The investigating officer has told the court that the father of the then 15-year-old victim raped his own daughter repeatedly in their home in Tsakani, Ekurhuleni.

He said the victim said she reported the incident to her mother, who accused her of lying.

The victim also claimed her parents then prevented her from ever leaving the house, making her drop out of school, fearing she would tell the public the rape claims.

After some months when the victim fell sick and was taken to hospital, it was confirmed she was pregnant.

It's said the mother came home with a mixture, making the victim drink in an attempt to abort the baby.

The abortion was unsuccessful, so the family is said to have moved the victim to live with her paternal grandmother in Limpopo.

The investigating officer told the court that the maternal family in Limpopo did not believe the victim's claims of being raped by her father and instead mistreated her.

She then gave birth and reported the matter to the police three years later, when her father went to Limpopo to confront her, he was arrested by the police.

COURT HEARS BABY PLACED IN SUPPORT CENTRE

The court also heard that the victim has placed her baby in a victim support centre in Limpopo.

DNA evidence revealed that the accused is indeed the father of the child.

The investigating officer in the matter testified before the court, saying the victim doesn’t want her father to be granted bail.

He further told the court that she has since returned to school now that he is arrested.

She claimed that her paternal family rejected claims that her father raped her and ridiculed her when she was sent to live when them in Limpopo.

The investigating officer also told the court that the victim says almost her entire family has turned their backs on her because of this.

It is for this reason and others that she has since given up her baby to a victim care centre.
