JOHANNESBURG - City Power says it is seeing a growing trend of violence, theft and intimidation of staff in Johannesburg by residents.
The power utility said it's concerned about the growing trend after a robbery incident in Orlando West, Soweto on Thursday, where technicians lost all items in their cars as they were stolen by thieves.

City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena said they need law enforcement agents to bolster assistance to ensure that their technicians can carry out their work.
"If these attacks continue, unfortunately, City Power will be forced to suspend its operations in most of these high-risk areas. The safety of our employees is non-negotiable and we are basically pushing through awareness campaigns where we urge communities to stand with the contractors and safeguard our people."
