JOHANNESBURG - The bail application of three men accused of killing former Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) Member of Parliament (MP) Khethamabala Sithole has been postponed.

The three made a brief appearance in the Palm Ridge Magistrate's Court in Ekurhuleni.

It’s alleged that on the evening of 31 May, the trio killed Sithole and seriously injured two others at the Buyafuthi Hostel in Katlehong.

The court gallery was packed with IFP supporters and family members of Sithole, some of whom made the trip from KwaZulu-Natal.

After initially abandoning their bail bids, the three accused now believe they should be released pending the outcome of the trial.

Their defence lawyer asked the court for more time to prepare the bail applications.

They are expected to return to court on 19 August.

In the meantime, police are still appealing for assistance from the public in tracking down one more suspect in this case.

Police have described Zamani Ngila Ximba as armed and dangerous.
