Chief Justice Maya lauds incoming Deputy Justice Mlambo for demostrating constitutional values

JOHANNESBURG - Chief Justice Mandisa Maya said her incoming Deputy Justice Dunstan Mlambo has demonstrated legal excellence and commitment to justice in his previous role.
President Cyril Ramaphosa announced Mlambo's appointment, which comes into effect on Friday.
Mlambo, who leaves his role as Gauteng Judge President, was recommended by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

In a statement, Chief Justice Maya has welcomed the appointment of Justice Mlambo as her deputy, saying he brings experience, steadfast leadership and unwavering dedication to constitutional values.
She has noted that Mlambo’s appointment follows an interview before the JSC, which involved political parties represented in the National Assembly.
Mlambo will work closely with Maya in the second-highest position in South Africa’s judiciary, a role that Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga held temporarily until his retirement on Thursday.
The Chief Justice said the judiciary looks forward to working with Mlambo in advancing the rule of law and safeguarding judicial independence.
