WC Mobility Dept concerned about increase in pedestrian deaths
From the 1st to the 22nd of July, the department recorded more than 70 road fatalities across the province, with the majority being pedestrian-related incidents.

CAPE TOWN - The Western Cape Mobility Department said it’s concerned about an increase in pedestrian deaths.
From the 1st to the 22nd of July, the department recorded more than 70 road fatalities across the province, with the majority being pedestrian-related incidents.
It adds that many of the incidents took place in high-density municipal areas, with Khayelitsha, Milnerton, Paarl and Kuils River repeatedly emerging as hotspots for multiple pedestrian deaths.
Mobility MEC Isaac Sileku said the R300 corridor, a provincial route, also recorded several fatalities.
"In just 21 days, 42 pedestrians have died on our roads; that’s 42 families shattered. I am pleading to all road users, motorists, please slow down and stay alert."
