PRETORIA - Gauteng police have launched a manhunt for at least ten suspects in connection with a shooting incident that left five people dead in Pretoria on Friday evening.

It's understood armed gunmen entered a tavern at the Choba informal settlement in Olivenhoutbosch and opened fire.

Initial reports indicated that six people had been killed, but police have since revised the number to five.

Officers say 2 females and 3 males were killed, while several other patrons were injured.

The motive for the shooting is not yet known, but the owner of the tavern has been taken in for questioning by the police.

Gauteng police spokesperson Mavela Masondo says investigations are continuing.

“Police are appealing to anyone who might have information that can help in the investigation or assist in the apprehension of the suspects to please call the nearest police station or call crime stop on 08600 10111.”
