JOHANNESBURG - An attempted hijacking took place at the residence of acting Gauteng provincial commissioner Fred Kekana in Westonaria on Monday morning.
EWN understands that the suspects, travelling in a blue BMW, attempted to hijack the top cop.
One of the suspects dropped their firearm in Kekana's yard during the botched incident.
A call for urgent backup was circulated by police, and a chopper has been deployed in the area to search for the suspects.
Kekana has been acting in the position of Gauteng top cop, as provincial commissioner Tommy Mthombeni is on leave.
