JOHANNESBURG - The wife of former African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) secretary-general, Sindiso Magaqa, said that while she was pleased with the sentencing handed down to his murderer, she still wanted to see more people being brought to book.

Gugu Magaqa reacted to a 25 year term handed down to Sibusiso Ncengwa by the Pietermaritzburg High Court on Monday.

In June, Ncengwa confessed to killing Magaqa and also implicated a former mayor from the Harry Gwala Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN).

This has been eight years since Gugu Magaqa lost her husband in a shooting incident in KZN.

Shortly after judgment was handed down in court on Monday, she welcomed the sentence handed down but said that more heads still needed to roll.

She said the sentencing did not entirely give their family peace.

"What I would like to see is for everyone that was involved in killing my husband is getting their prize because right now, it’s only the person that was sent that has been sentenced, and everyone else is still outside that are responsible for the killing of my husband."

At the start of the case, there were four men fingered in the murder of Magaqa - one was declared unfit to stand trial, while Ncengwa confessed to his role in the murder.

The two others are still awaiting trial.
