CAPE TOWN - The Mitchells Plain community policing forum (CPF) has called for a coordinated plan to bring an end to all shootings and gang-related violence in the area.

CPF chairperson Norman Jantjies said that the easy access gangsters had to firearms was a major concern.
"The police keep on saying that they confiscated so many firearms, yet the area is full of firearms."
Jantjies said that the CPF would be meeting with Western Cape Police Commissioner Thembesile Patekile this week.
"We want to know what's your plans and then how are you going hold hands with the community to make this a safer place and what about the other releveant government departments?"
Jantjies said the CPF would also be writing to the president this week to request a commission of enquiry into gang violence in the Western Cape.
