JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng’s Department of Health said water supply has been restored to most of its facilities after Rand Water’s ongoing infrastructure maintenance disrupted supply this week.
The department confirmed that Charlotte Maxeke Hospital, Southrand Hospital, Helen Joseph, and the Alexandra Community Health Centre now have full water service again.
The only facility still affected is the Hillbrow Community Health Centre, as the entire area remains without running water.
Spokesperson Motalatale Modiba said water tankers have been deployed to keep services running smoothly.
“Even in the other facilities that were earlier impacted, we did not have service interruptions. Charlotte Maxeke has water storage of nine million litres — enough to last two to four days without problems. At Helen Joseph, with three tankers and a borehole, they chose to defer surgeries and focus on emergencies, but now things have been restored to norm.
