The arrests were made after five people were killed and seven others injured in gang-related shootings in the area on Thursday.
Patekile, who was in Mitchells Plain on Friday, said that police know who they are looking for.
"The people who started the fight are gang leaders from different gangs, one with the other gang, the other with the opposing gang. So, we're starting from there. Those are the people that we know. Then from there, we go to the ones who are the actual shooters."
