Over the past few weeks, CATA and CODETA have been feuding over routes from Mfuleni and Khayelitsha to Somerset West.
At least eight taxi operators have lost their lives over this dispute.
CATA spokesperson Nkululeko Sityebi said the resolution to the conflict was a step in the right direction.
"We believe that from now onwards, we will never come across something as bad as what has happened. I also believe that it’s high time that the industry does most engagements than these types of acts that are happening."
CODETA spokesperson Makhosandile Tumana said the talks were not easy but necessary.
"We're really happy with the decision that we have reached as CODETA and CATA. We hope that our members will commit themselves to keeping all the agreements between these two associations."
