JOHANNESBURG - Ex-convict Mduduzi Mnisi, accused of killing a 14-year-old girl in Roodeport, is expected to return to court on Tuesday for a bail application.

Mnisi is charged with the premeditated murder of Likhona Fose in Durban Deep in May.

Fose's mutilated body was found a few meters away from her home after she was reported missing.

Mnisi's case was postponed to this week for the State to conclude its investigations concerning the bail application the accused wants to bring.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has stated that they are ready to oppose the bail.

The 39-year-old has faced a prior conviction of attempted murder and robbery for crimes committed in 2007.

It is understood that Mnisi was seen with Fose a day before her half-naked, mutilated body was discovered in a veld in May.

The Fose family has shared that they hope the accused is not granted bail.
