Municipal water safe to drink despite emergency repairs to treatment plant: CoCT

CAPE TOWN - The City of Cape Town has assured residents that the municipal water supply remains safe to drink, despite emergency repairs being underway at the Faure Water Treatment Plant.
The MMC for Water and Sanitation, Zahid Badroodien, said teams are working around the clock to stabilise the system.
“Our bulk water team has managed to stabilise our Faure Water Treatment Plant and are closely monitoring the plant’s processes to ensure reliable and continued water supply. At the moment, the system is currently stable.”
In the meantime, the city has urged residents across the metro to reduce water use to ease pressure on the water supply system.
