JOHANNESBURG - Education activist Hendrik Makaneta has condemned the fatal stabbing of a learner by his schoolmate at Lesedi High School in Pretoria east.
Earlier this week, a grade 12 pupil waited outside the school premises for his schoolmate and stabbed him.
He was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.
Two learners were arrested in connection with the incident and appeared in the Bronkhorstspruit Magistrates Court on a charge of murder.

Makaneta is calling on the prosecuting authority to fast-track the legal process.
"A thorough investigation and prosecution are necessary, with a view to securing a guilty verdict, and the maximum sentence that is permissible by law. This will send a very strong message that such acts will not be tolerated in our society," said Makaneta.
