CAPE TOWN - Refugee lobby groups say obtaining proper documents is still a challenge for migrants in South Africa.

On World Refugee Day, the Consortium for Refugees and Migrants in South Africa is calling on government to address this and other issues refugees experience in the country.

The organisation’s Thifulufheli Sinthumule says the aim of the day is to honour the strength displayed by people who have fled their home countries.

"So when you look at the South African context, we extend that many asylum seekers and refugees they are still facing difficulties in accessing documents which is the asylum seeker and refugee permit so that they can integrate in the community and access basic services and protection.”
