CAPE TOWN - Ahead of Youth Day on Monday, the Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness is urging young people to take better care of their health, starting now.
The department is encouraging healthier choices, such as nutritious eating, regular exercising and spending more time outdoors.
Spokesperson Dwayne Evans said that adopting a healthy lifestyle today was an investment in both your body and mind for the future.
Evans said that youth zones were available province-wide to assist the young people on their health journey.
"Youth Zones are available across the province. These welcoming centres are designed around the needs of young people. Friendly teams listen without judgement and offer nutrition guidance, routine health checks, mental wellness support and sexual and reproductive care."
Evans added that support was also available for those feeling overwhelmed, especially during exam season.
"If exams are causing anxiety, a quiet conversation at a Youth Zone can provide coping tools, study balance tips, and referrals when more help is needed."
